Location Highlight: Big Sur
Portfolio: Climbing in Patagonia with Ted Hesser
Commercial Work: Eagle Creek Campaign
Where We’ve Been, Where We Are, Where We’re Going
Big Sur is one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in the USA. Highway 1 snakes up the steep cliff sides a few hundred feet above the ocean, with redwood forests and mountains blocking passage inland, it can feel incredibly remote even though it’s only a few hours from Los Angeles or San Francisco. “To visit as a tourist, just to take in the view would really limit your experience. Going to look for surf, or peaks to paraglide off of forces you off the beaten path, and you end up finding places that are rarely experienced by anyone.” says Ben Horton who has been exploring and photographing Big Sur for over a decade. He adds, “Every time I go, I find something new that I had no idea existed before, it’s one of my favorite places to explore in California.”
